June 22, 10 am – 2 pm

313 N. Meldrum St., Fort Collins

The little neighborhood grocery store that stands at 313 N. Meldrum has a 143-year history that stretches back to Fort Collins’ earliest days. On June 22nd, from 10 am – 2 pm, you’ll be able to step back in time and tour this historic gem. Join Historic Larimer County, the new owner of the building, for free tours, a vintage car show, and music from the porch.

The Emma Malaby Grocery began its life on N. College Avenue as a photography studio. It was a millenary and home for six years before being hauled from N. College to N. Meldrum in 1906 by Frank Collamer to be turned into a grocery. Frank’s daughter, Emma, took over the store in 1921, operating it until her retirement in 1943.

Swing on by on June 22nd for free tours of the building. We’ll also be shutting down the 300 block of N. Meldrum to host a vintage car show featuring three different local car clubs. Only cars that are of the right time period to have driven up and parked in front of the store when it was in operation will be included. (In other words, all of the cars will be from 1943 or earlier.) There will be two musical acts from the front porch of the house next door to the store. And light snacks will be available for purchase.

This is a free event! Swing by for a tour and hang out as long as you like!

Parking: The 300 block of N. Meldrum will be closed to automobile traffic. Please plan to park in the neighborhood, at City Hall (one block to the south), or in the Civic Center Parking Garage at Laporte Avenue and Mason Street.
